Every System That Carries Flame Or Flue Gas

From a 1998 factory firebox to a hand-laid crown — one crew, one standard, one number.

Chimney & Fireplace Sweeping

Wood systems earn a sweep per season here. Rods, whips and a sealed vacuum take the flue back to bare metal or tile — the living room never knows it happened.

  • Wood, gas and factory flues swept
  • Firebox and damper detailed
  • HEPA containment, spotless exit

The Free System Inspection

Factory or masonry, the whole assembly gets eyes and a lens: flue, chase, cover, cap, draft and clearances — photographed and explained on the spot, free.

  • Every component on a checklist
  • Findings you can see, not just hear
  • $149 written report for sales & insurers

Prefab Fireplace Service

Most of Eagan vents through a factory-built unit in a sided chase — and the parts wear out long before the house does. We identify the model and bring the right pieces.

  • Refractory panels and doors replaced
  • Storm collars and terminations renewed
  • Factory flues serviced to spec

Gas Tune-Ups & Venting

Blue flame, clear glass, quiet carbon-monoxide numbers. The annual tune-up catches dusty burners, tired thermopiles and the white film that etches glass for good.

  • Burner cleaned, thermopile tested
  • Gaskets and glass renewed as needed
  • Vent walked end to end

Chase Covers & Caps

Rust streaks on the siding are a galvanized cover giving its notice. Custom stainless covers and shrouded caps close the chase for good — and look better doing it.

  • Covers bent to the chase, stainless
  • Shrouds and caps matched to the house
  • Storm collars sealed properly
Replace the cover

Draft & Makeup-Air Fixes

Tight new construction can let a range hood out-pull the chimney. We measure the pressures, find the losing battle, and specify the fix that lets everything breathe.

  • Backdrafting diagnosed with numbers
  • Makeup-air paths specified
  • Every appliance venting in harmony

Masonry: Crowns, Joints & Veneer

The brick originals and the stone-veneer facades both answer to frost. Crowns recast, joints repointed, veneer re-laid over corrected flashing — matched, not patched.

  • Crowns poured with slope and drip edge
  • Joints ground out and repacked
  • Loose veneer re-set over fixed flashing

Furnace & Appliance Flues

The flue nobody thinks about vents the appliances that run all winter. Relining aging runs in stainless keeps condensation, blockage and CO where they belong: handled.

  • Furnace and water-heater flues relined
  • Correct sizing for modern appliances
  • Condensation damage stopped early

Signals

Seven Murmurs Before The Announcement

Modern fireplace systems fail quietly. These are the sounds they make first.

  • Rust streaks below the chimney chaseThe galvanized cover has pinholed. Water is already visiting the framing underneath.
  • White etching on the gas fireplace glassAcidic combustion film — cleanable now, permanent later, and a sign the burner wants service.
  • Cracked panels inside the fireboxRefractory past its duty. Wide cracks put real heat against the wood framing behind.
  • Backdrafts when the hood or dryer runsThe house is winning a pressure war against its own chimney. Measurable, fixable.
  • A damp, ashy smell in JulyRain is finding the flue — the cap, cover or crown has quietly resigned.
  • Stone veneer shedding near the groundFrost working behind the facade. Each freeze recruits the next stone loose.
  • The pilot won't hold, or burns lazy orangeThermopile, gas pressure or venting — all three are an appointment, not a mystery.

Winter's calendar books solid by October — September calls pick their dates. If one of these signals sounds familiar, the free visit turns the hunch into a plan.

Straight Answers

Asked Often Around Eagan

What does the free inspection cover?

The whole system, whichever kind you own: flue, firebox or factory unit, chase, cover, cap, damper, draft and clearances — photographed and explained on the spot, at no charge and pointedly without a sales pitch. Need it documented? The written report with photos runs $149, prepared only on request.

Mine is a factory-built fireplace in a sided chase. You service those?

They're the local specialty — most of Eagan vents through one. Refractory panels, doors, chase covers, storm collars and the metal flue itself are all serviceable, and identifying the make and model early means parts arrive before problems grow teeth.

What are the rust streaks under my chimney?

A galvanized chase cover announcing retirement. Once it pinholes, every rain paints the siding and wets the framing inside the chase. A custom stainless or aluminum cover retires the problem instead.

Does a gas fireplace really need yearly service?

Firmly yes. Burners collect dust, thermopiles fade, gaskets dry, vents host wasps — and the white film on the glass etches permanently if it stays. A tune-up keeps the flame blue and the carbon monoxide outdoors.

Why does the fireplace backdraft when the range hood runs?

Tight construction. A strong hood or bath fan can out-pull a chimney in a well-sealed house, which is a makeup-air problem rather than a fireplace defect. We measure the pressures and specify the cure.

The firebox panels are cracking — how bad?

Hairlines: cosmetic. Cracks that swallow a coin edge: replacement time, before real heat reaches the framing behind them. Caught early it's a straightforward bolt-in part.

Stone veneer is coming loose near the ground. Fixable?

Yes. Frost pries manufactured stone wherever water slips behind it. We take down the failed area, fix the moisture path and flashing, and re-lay the stone to outlast the original installation.

What hours do you keep?

Weekdays, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Weekends the shop goes dark.
